BUTTER TART SQUARES #2

Got this recipe from House and Home magazine.. like the base on this one a bit better... like the brown sugar in it...

Ingredients

  • BASE
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • FILLING
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 large eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 1 cup pecans or walnuts (optional)
  • I also added 1 tbsp balsamic caramel vinegar for flavor

Preparation

Step 1

BASE

Cut butter into dry ingredietns with pastry blender. Then add vanilla and stir until combined. Press into a 9" x 13" pan.

FILLING

Mix all ingredients together and pour over base. Bake for 35 minutes at 350 degrees. Let cool and cut into squares.
