Ingredients

  • SAUCE:
  • 1 pound of Italian sausage out of casing
  • 1 pound of ground beef
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 1 Tablespoon of basil
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 (16 ounce) can of tomatoes
  • 1 (12 ounce) can of tomato paste and 3 cans of water
  • 10 ounce box of lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound mozzarella
  • FILLING:
  • 3 cups Ricotta cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese
  • 2 Tablespoons parsley
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

Preparation

Step 1

To make the sauce brown the meat slowly. Drain off fat. Add remaining ingredients and simmer for 30 minutes. Stir occasionally.

Cook the noodles according to the directions on the box and drain.

Mix together the filling ingredients.


Assemble the lasagna by layering 1/2 the noodles in the bottom of a 13 x 9 pan. Spread 1/2 the ricotta mixture. Top with 1/2 the mozzarella cheese and 1/2 of the sauce. Repeat with a second layer.

Bake at 375 for 30 to 45 minutes. Let stand 5 - 10 minutes before serving.
