Raisin Bread

  • Mix in a large bowl
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 Tbsp salt
  • 2 Tsp cinnamon
  • Add
  • 2 cups scalded milk
  • 2 Tbsp white Karo syrup
  • Melt and add
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • Mix together and add
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1 Tsp sugar
  • 2 Pack yeast
  • Beat a little and add
  • 6 eggs
  • Also need
  • 1 Box raisins
  • 12 Cups flour


Servings 4


Step 1

To milk mixture add sugar, shortening, yeast, eggs, and about 3 cups flour

Mix with beater or by hand

Add raisins, cinnamon, and more flour, mix well

Dump on table or pastry cloth

Keep adding flour and knead until smooth and easy to handle

Put in large greased bowl, cover and let rise until double

Dump on table and knead again for about 5 minutes

Divide dough and shape for loaf pans

Makes 4 or 5 loaves

Let rise again

Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes

Do not hurry the rising

Do not need to add the raisins

Takes about 3 or 4 hourse each time
