2 cups walnut halves
36 (1 14 oz package) Brachs milk maid caramels, unwrapped
3 Tbsp. butter
½ tsp. vanilla
1 cup nestles semi-sweet chocolate morsels
1-½ tsp. shortening
On a lightly greased wax paper, make 28-30 clusters of walnuts. Melt caramels, add butter and vanilla. (I use my microwave: just don't over heat this mixture or it gets super hard in a couple of days.) Let nut-caramel mixture cool. Melt chocolate and shortening, mix well and spoon over caramel and nuts. NOTE: i usually have to make more chocolate than what this recipe calls for-but it is a guide. Each year, I have to add a little more it seems, so i would keep extra on hand.
