Ingredients

  • 1

    cup almond milk or other non-dairy milk

  • 1

    cup destemmed kale leaves or baby spinach

  • 1

    ripe banana, peeled and frozen

  • 2 to 3

    ice cubes

  • 1

    tablespoon almond butter or peanut butter

  • 1

    tablespoon pure chia seeds or ground flaxseed

  • 1/4

    teaspoon pure vanilla extract

  • Pinch of ground cinnamon

  • Protein powder, optional

Directions

In a high-speed blender, combine all of the ingredients and blend until smooth. Serve immediately and enjoy a burst of energy any time of the day! Tips: It's easy to make a double batch and refrigerate the leftovers in a jar for the next day. Or, prepare the smoothie at night and store it in the fridge for the next morning. Sometimes I do this if time is tight in the morning or if I have sleeping houseguests around. No one likes to be woken up by a Vitamix, my cat included.
