Ingredients

  • CAKE:
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cup sifted flour
  • 2 t baking powder
  • 1/4 t baking soda
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • rind of 1 orange
  • 2 t orange rind
  • 1/2 cup fresh whole cranberries
  • TOPPING:
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsifted flour
  • 1/4 melted butter
  • 1 t orange rind

Cooking time 65mins

Preparation

Step 1

Cream sugar and shortening.
Add egg and beat well.
Add dry ingredients alternately with the milk and o.j.

Turn into a greased 9 x 9 x 1 3/4 pan.
Sprinkle with the orange and sugar topping.

Cut into squares. Serve warm and top with whipped cream if you choose.
