Ingredients

  • CAKE:

  • ¼ cup shortening

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 1 egg

  • 2 cup sifted flour

  • 2 t baking powder

  • ¼ t baking soda

  • ½ t salt

  • ¼ cup milk

  • ½ cup orange juice

  • rind of 1 orange

  • 2 t orange rind

  • ½ cup fresh whole cranberries

  • TOPPING:

  • ½ cup sugar

  • ⅓ cup unsifted flour

  • ¼ melted butter

  • 1 t orange rind

Directions

Cream sugar and shortening. Add egg and beat well. Add dry ingredients alternately with the milk and o.j. Turn into a greased 9 x 9 x 1 3/4 pan. Sprinkle with the orange and sugar topping. Cut into squares. Serve warm and top with whipped cream if you choose.
