apple pie - upside down

This is prepared upside down and gets flipped onto plate when finished. Use a large plate to catch the carmelization!!

  • 2 pie crusts

  • Topping

  • 3T melted butter

  • ¾ C nuts

  • ½ C brown sugar

  • Filling

  • 5-6 apples (Rome)

  • ¼ - ½ C sugar

  • 2T flour

  • ½ t cinnamon

  • ¼ t nutmeg

  • Sprinkle salt


Preheat oven to 375 Mix topping and spread in bottom of pie pan Place first crust over topping. Press down firmly Add filling Cover with second crust Flute edges to seal Bake at 375 45- 55 minutes Flip over onto large plate as soon as finished baking. Use large enough plate to catch caramel run off. Crust (1) 6T butter cut into small pieces. 1 ½ cup flour. Process in to course mix. Add enough milk to make it ball. Roll out on floured surface.
