Ingredients

  • PIE CRUST
  • 5 cups flour.
  • 1/12 cups shortening.
  • 3 tablespoons ice water
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt.
  • APPLE FILLING
  • 2 tablespoon brown sugar.
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar.
  • 2 tablespoon butter.
  • 2 tablsespoon flour.
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon.
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch.
  • 1 cup coarsely chopped apples.
  • EGG WASH
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups of milk
  • HARDSAUCE
  • 1 tablespoon of softened butter.
  • 1 cup confectioners sugar.
  • 1 tablespoon Brandy.

Preparation

Step 1

PIE CRUST

Sift flour with salt.

Put shorting in center of flour mixture. Rub together with fingers until mix forms cornmeal type mixture.

Add ice water.

Form into ball.

Roll out.

FILLING

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Roll out pastry dough to a 1/4 inch thickness.

Mix all ingredients for apple filling except melted butter and 1 Tablespoon sugar.

Cut pastry into 5 inch squares.

Put 2 tablespoons of apple filling in each pastry.

Fold over and press edges with fork.

Coat with eggwash

Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with sugar.

Bake 20-25 minutes.

Make HARDSAURCE

Serve with HARDSAUCE
