Ingredients

  • ¼ cup butter
  • 1 ½ cups chopped onion
  • 1/3 cup chopped celery
  • 3 cups cut up carrots
  • 1 ½ cups diced turnip
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 5 cups chicken broth
  • Pinch cayenne
  • Pinch nutmeg
  • ½ cup cream

Preparation

Step 1

Saute onions and celery. Add other ingredients except cream and bring to a boil. Simmer approximately 30 minutes. Puree in blender or food processor. Add cream if desired and also add a bit of fresh dill or dill weed.
