  • 1 (14 oz.) Kraft caramels

  • ⅓ cup evaporated milk

  • 1 German chocolate cake mix

  • ¾ melted butter

  • ⅔ cup evaporated milk

  • 1 (6 oz.) chocolate chips

  • 1 cup chopped pecans


Melt in double boiler the caramels and 1/3 cup evaporated milk. Mix by hand the cake mix, butter, and 2/3 cup evaporated milk. Spread half of cake mixture in 13x9 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 6 minutes. Spread over baked mixture the chocolate chips, pecans, and caramel mixture. Spread rest of cake mixture over this and bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes. You will be tempted to let them bake longer, but don't. Let set and cool before cutting.
