Ingredients
- 2 pounds ground chuck
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper, divided
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 medium yellow onion, sliced
- 1 (8-ounce) package sliced baby portobello mushrooms
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 (10.5-ounce) cans beef consommé
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Step 1
1.In a medium bowl, combine ground chuck, garlic salt, and 1/4 teaspoon pepper, stirring well. Divide mixture into 4 equal portions. Shape each portion into a patty approximately 5 inches in diameter. Set aside.
2.In a large nonstick skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Cook patties until browned, 5 to 6 minutes per side. Remove patties from pan, reserving drippings in pan; set aside.
3.Add onion to skillet. Cook over medium heat for 6 minutes, stirring occasionally.
4.Add mushrooms and garlic. Cook for 10 minutes, stirring frequently.
5.Add flour. Cook, for 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
6.Gradually add consommé, stirring until smooth. Add Worcestershire sauce and remaining 1/4 teaspoon pepper.
7.Return patties to skillet. Cook until gravy is thickened and patties are cooked through, 25 to 30 minutes.
