Sourdough Bread

Ingredients

  • Morning or night - Feed starter
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 3 tbsp. instant potatoes
  • 1 c. flour (white regular or bread flour)
  • 1 c. very warm (not hot) water
  • Mix. Let set all day or night (covered). Next day (or evening), remove 1 c. starter and refrigerate the rest in a covered bowl.

Preparation

Step 1

To the 1 cup of starter, add:

1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. vegetable oil
1 tbsp. salt
1 1/2 c. warm tap water
5 1/2 to 6 c. flour

Mix in large bowl. Place dough in large bowl coated with vegetable oil, turning to coat well. Cover with Saran Wrap and let set out all day (or night). Divide into 3 parts. (Cut with a knife; don't pull apart.) Knead each part 1-2 minutes on lightly floured surface.
