Ingredients
- CREAM TOGETHER
- 1/2 cup shortening (crisco)
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 tsp butter flavor (can buy butter flavored crisco)
- MIX INTO A PASTE
- 3 Tbsp Cocoa
- 1 bottle (1 1/2oz) Red Food Color
- ADD TO ABOVE MIXTURE
- 2 1/2 cups Cake Flour (I have used regular flour and fine)
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 Tbsp vinegar
- 1 tsp soda

Preparation
Step 1
Blend and pour into 3 greased and floured cake pans. Can use a sheath pan if you don't want to layer the cakes.
Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 20-25 minutes
Let cool and frost.
FROSTING
Cook in saucepan
3 Tbsp Flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup milk
Cook until thick, then let cool
Cream separately
1 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp butter flavor (or use butter flavor crisco)
Combine both mixtures and beat well until smooth
and frost cake.
