Ingredients

  • Dough:
  • 3 cups water
  • 2 eggs
  • 6 tbsp oil
  • 9 cups flour
  • salt
  • Filling:
  • 5 large potatoes
  • 6 oz cheddar cheese, shredded (approximately)
  • 1/2 jar saurkraut
  • 1 large onion
  • 4 slices bacon
  • 2 tbsp bacon fat

Preparation

Step 1

Dough:
Mix water, eggs, oil and salt. Add 4 cups of flour all at once, and mix thoroughly. Add remaining flour 1 cup at a time, and kneed well. Roll small pieces of dough into 3" circles, place about 1 tbsp of filling in middle, and pinch closed. Place on clean cloth, being careful not to let them touch. Bring salted water to a boil, and add paraha to water one at a time, let water return to boil, and time for about 3 minutes. Drain, place in large roaster, and toss with melted butter.

Fillings:
Boil potatoes about 25 minutes, until tender, drain. Add grated cheese and mash until well blended.

Fry bacon, remove from pan, crumble. Add onion and fry till tender. Add saurkrout, and fry till warm and slightly dry. Return bacon to pan.
