A wonderful flour gravy great for breakfast.

This recipe can be used as a base for any gravy. Use the fat from cooked meat to compliment your meal. Use less liquid for a thicker gravy.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons of all purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons of fat, Crisco or left over bacon, etc.
  • 1.5 cups of milk
  • salt and pepper to taste

Step 1

Warm fat over a medium heat skillet.

Pour flour into skillet and brown, stirring constantly. Use a utensil that you can scrape the bottom of your skillet safely.

Pour in milk, slowly, stirring constantly until mixed well. If you pour in the milk too fast, the flour will clump.

Bring to a simmer and add salt and pepper to taste. Stir frequently while bringing to a simmer. Let simmer for couple minutes until thick.

When the gravy cools, it will thicken more.
