Bread Dumplings

Ingredients

  • 6 slices of White Bread (dried) sliced into 1/2 cubes
  • 2 cups of Flour
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Preparation

Step 1

Key Notes:
- Let Bread sit out overnight to dry
- Eggs and milk combined should = 3/4 cup
- Best if made in advance and frozen
- Recipe doubles easy; steam only what's needed
- Use large pot to boil dumplings in

Directions:
1. Put cubed bread in large bowl, add flour & salt
2. Mix eggs and milk together, then pour over bread.
3. Mix together until cubes are moist (not soaking wet)
4.. Divide bread mix into 3 balls
5. Flour hands & use wax paper to roll balls with
6. Fill pot with water, bring to boil
7. Add each ball in water, cover with lid
8. Boil for 30 minutes (set heat to simmer or low, just to keep a low boil going)
9. Remove from pot, drain
10. Slice dumpling into 4-5 sections
11. Lay flat on cookie dryer or wax paper, let dry on one side, then turn (takes about 30 min per side.
12. Put in sealable bag, then freeze.

To Re-heat:
1. Remove as many slices as desiired
2. Place in steamer for 20-30 min
3. Plate an serve with gravy (ie. Pork, Chicken, Turkey)
