Ingredients

  • Part 1:
  • 2 cups plain flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 cups sugar
  • Mix well.
  • Part 2:
  • 4 tsp cocoa
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 1/2 cup Wesson oil
  • Let come to a boil. Boil for three minutes and pour over part 1. Stir well.
  • Part 3:
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk (put soda in buttermilk)
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp soda
  • 2 eggs, slightly beaten
  • Add part 3 with 1 and 2. Beat at medium speed until smooth. Pour into greased, floured cake pan and bake at 325-350 until cake springs back, appx. 40-45 mintues.
  • Icing:
  • 1/2 cup Pet milk
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 1 tsp cocoa
  • Cook over medium heat, stir well until sugar dissolves and starts to boil, then cook 1 minute, no longer! Add 1/2 cup chopped nuts and beat a little. Ice cool cake.
