Swiss Steak- Grandpa Morgan Style

Slightly spicy, and full of flavor..this is COMFORT FOOD at it's best!. Although I have modified the recipe over the years this remains relatively true to the original Morgan family comfort food.

    (14-½ ounce) can diced tomatoes

  • 1

    (28 ounce) can diced tomatoes

  • 2

Directions

Cut steak into serving-size pieces (2" x 3" x 1/2"). Dust meat with spiced flour. In dutch oven, brown both sides of meat in vegetable oil. Transfer to Dutch oven. Combine garlic, tomatoes, beef broth, onion, bell pepper, salt and pepper. Pour over steak and simmer over low heat until meat is tender, about 1 1/2 hours adding water, if necessary to keep meat partially covered. Season, to taste, with additional salt and pepper. Serve with/over mashed potatoes with Chianti or Sangiovese. Hint: Cook this in a slow-cooker, according to manufacturers instructions, on low for a most fabulous dinner. Low heat on a slow cooker is about 200 degrees F and high heat on a slow cooker is about 300 degrees F.
