I found this recipie in a Mormon cookbook I found while living in Utah. When I make it, I have to make 2 or 3 batches, they go so fast. I hope you enjoy it as much.

Ingredients

  • 1 C shortening
  • 1/2 C butter
  • 1-1/3 C sugar
  • 1 C brown sugar
  • 1 T vanilla
  • 2 t baking soda
  • 1 t cinnamon
  • 3 C flour
  • 2 C walnuts
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 t lemon juice
  • 1-1/2 t salt
  • 1/2 C oatmeal
  • 2 lg packages chocolate chips

Preparation

Step 1

In large bowl beat shortening, butter and sugars until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each egg. Beat in vanilla and lemon juice.

In another bowl, stir together baking soda, salt, cinnamon, oats and flour. Beat into creamed mixture, stir in nuts and chocolate chips.

Lightly grease cookie sheet. Drop by spoonfulls and bake.

350 degrees 16-18 minutes
