Ingredients
- 3/4 c butter
- 1 c sugar
- 1/4 c molasses
- 1 egg
- 2 c sifted flour
- 1/4 t salt
- 2 t baking soda
- 1 t cinnamon
- 1 t cloves
- 1 t ginger
- 1/2 granulated sugar for rolling cookies

Preparation
Step 1
Cream butter. Gradually add sugar. Beat in molasses and egg. Mix well. Sift all dry ingredients together and then blend into liquid mixture. Chill batter for at least 2 hours. Shape into 1 1/2" balls. Roll in sugar. Place 12 on a lightly greased cookie sheet and flatten with bottom of glass. Bake at 350 deg. for 10-12 minutes. Remove from oven and leave on sheet for 1 minute. Then remove to coo;king rack. Store airtight. Enjoy!
