Chocolate Cherry Upside Down Cake

  • 1 21-oz. can cherry pie filling
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1/4 cup applesauce
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 egg


Preparation time 10mins
Cooking time 40mins


Step 1

Spread pie filling evenly in greased 9x13 pan. Mix cake mix, water, oil, applesauce, vanilla, and egg. Stir just to moisten. Pour batter over pie filling. Spread evenly. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes. Cool 10 minutes in pan. Invert on cookie sheet and cool until time to eat. Serve with cool whip or ice cream.
