Strawberry Thumbprints

  • 3 c flour
  • 1 c sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 sticks butter, cold and cut into pieces
  • 2 large egg yolks, lightly beaten
  • 1 c strawberry jam
  • powdered sugar for sprinkling



Step 1

IN large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and salt. Add butter and blend mixture till it resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in eg yolks, blend the mixture until it forms a dough. Chill the dough, wrapped in plastic wrap, for at least 2 hours or overnight.

Preheat oven to 350. Let dough soften slightly, roll level teaspoons of it into balls and arrange balls about 2 inches apart on lihtly greased or parchment lined sheets. Using thumb or back of teaspoon measure, make indent. Fill indents with jam. Bake 12-15 min or until pale golden. Let cool 2 minutes, then transfer to rack.

Sprinkle with confectioners sugar.
