Ingredients
- 2 1/4 C. Dried Split Peas
- 8 C. Cold Water
- 1 1/2 # ham bone
- 2 onions, chopped
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- 3 stalk celery, chopped
- 3 carrots, chopped
- 3 red potatoes, diced

Preparation
Step 1
In large stock pot cover pease with 8 c. water and soak overnight. Or for faster method, simmer peas gently for 2 minutes and then soak for one hour. Add ham bone, onion, salt & pepper. Cover & bring to a boil then simmer 1 1/2 hour stirring occasionaly. Remove bone, add vegetables. Cook slowly uncovered 30 minutes or until tender. Serve.
