Cocktail Meatballs

Ingredients

  • Sauce:
  • Frozen meatballs
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 1/4 c. flour
  • 3 c. beef broth
  • 1 c. red wine
  • 1/4 c. brown sugar
  • 1/4 c. ketchup
  • 2 Tbs. lemon juice
  • 6 ginger snaps, crumbled
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • Pepper

Preparation

Step 1

In large skillet, melt butter. Add onions & saute' until golden. Blend in flour. Add broth, stirring until smooth. Stir in remaining ingredients & simmer over low heat for 15 min. Add meatballs; simmer 5 more min. (May be prepared in advance to this point. Refrigerate up to 24 hrs. or freeze up to 1 month. To serve: heat thawed or frozen, covered, in 300 degree oven until hot.)
