Ingredients
- ICING:
- LIGHTLY GREASE COOKIE SHEETS /PREHEAT OVEN TO 200 deg. F.
- 3 CUPS / ground walnuts
- 1/2 cup / bread crumbs
- 3/4 cup / sugar
- 1/2 tsp. / cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. / lemon juice
- 1 egg
- 2 egg yolks
- Mix all ingredients well and roll to a 1/2" inch even thickness by hand.
- 2 / egg whites
- 2/3 cup / sugar
- 1 tsp. / vanilla extract
- 1Tbsp. / lemon juice
- Beat until firm stiff peaks form.

Preparation
Step 1
Cut dough into finger width pieces / top with icing
Put on lightly greased cookie sheets, put in 200 deg, preheated oven with door slightly open for about 2 hours.

OLD SCHOOL OPTION - Preheat oven to 325 deg. then turn off oven and leave cookies in overnight. / 8 hours if baking by day.
This is how the recipe read on paper but I think, in practice, she heated the oven to 250 before turning off and leaving them in overnight. If going with the 325 I'm pretty sure she left the door cracked open.

Left Over Meringue
preheat oven to 350 deg.
On greased baking sheets.. drop tsp dollops onto baking sheet .. Bake for 15 minutes.
