Buttercream Icing

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup solid vegetable shortening
  • 1/2 cup (1stick) butter
  • 1 tsp clear vanilla extract
  • 4 cups confecioner's sugar (1 box)
  • 2 Tbsp milk or water

Preparation

Step 1

Cream the shortening and butter. Add the vanilla. Gradually add sugar, one cup at a time, beating well on medium speed. Scrape down sides often. When all sugar has been added it will be dry. Continue adding water until it is spreading consistency.
