Ingredients
- 2 cups – sugar
- 1 Tbsp. vanilla
- 1 cup – shortening
- 1 Cup – buttermilk
- 4 beaten egg yolks
- 2 ½ cups – sifted flour
- ½ tsp – salt
- 1 tsp. – soda
- 1 pkg German chocolate
- 4 egg whites
- ½ cup of boiling water

Preparation
Step 1
Mix sugar, flour, salt, shortening, egg yolks, buttermilk with soda in it, and hot water with chocolate melted in it. Fold in egg whites and vanilla.
Baked in greased cake pan at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes. Ice cake when cool. Cook in 13 x 9 pan or in 3 greased and floured round cake pans.
COCONUT PECAN FROSTING
1 large can of milk
1 ½ cups of sugar
1 stick of oleo (margarine)
3 egg yolks
Cook over a medium heat until thickened (about 12 minutes) Add 1 cup of angel flake coconut and 1 cup of chopped pecans. Then add 1 tsp of vanilla. Mix together and ice cake after cake cools.
