Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 4 Tbsp flour
  • 4 Tbsp cocoa
  • 2 cups milk
  • 3 eggs (Just use yolk—separate whites for meringue)
  • 2 Tbsp butter or margarine
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

Warm milk and pour in dry ingredients—cook until thick. Add butter and cook ½ minute more then add beaten egg yolks and cook 1 minute more. Add vanilla.
Bake in 9 inch pie crust.

Meringue

3 egg whites beaten (until stiff). Then add ¼ cup sugar and 1 tsp baking powder. Beat sugar and baking powder with a spoon. Put over the chocolate mixture in pie crust and Bake until meringue is brown.
