Ingredients
- FOR GLAZE:
- 1 1/4 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon instant espresso coffee powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1 cup miniature semisweet chocolate pieces
- coat in powdered sugar or powdered sugar glaze
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons light color corn syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/4 to 1/3 cup milk
Preparation
Step 1
1. In a large bowl stir together the flour, brown sugar, cocoa powder, 1/4 cup sugar, the coffee powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. make a well in center of flour mixture. In a medium bowl combine egg, milk, melted butter. Add egg mixture all at once to flour mixture; stir just until smooth. Stir in chocolate pieces.
2. Let doughnuts cool completely before glazing.
3. For glaze: IN a large bowl stir together 4 cups powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons light color corn syrup, and 1 teaspoon vanilla. stir in enough milk (1/4 to 1/3 cup) to make a thick glaze of drizzling consistency.
