Ingredients

  • TOPPING:
  • butter
  • 1 loaf french bread (16 oz.)
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups half and half
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • pinch salt
  • 2 sticks butter (cut in small pieces)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 2 tbsp. light corn syrup
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg

Preparation

Step 1

1.) Grease 9x11 baking dish with butter. Slice bread into 20 1 inch slices and arrange in rows overlapping.

2.) Combine eggs, half and half, milk, sugar, vanilla, 1/4 cinnamon, 1/4 tsp nutmeg, and salt. Beat with mixer.

3.) Pour mixture over bread. Cover overnight. Before baking place topping in bowl. Mash with fork.

4.) Preheat oven to 350º. Spread topping over bread and bake uncovered for 40 mins. Serve with maple syrup.
