Ingredients
- 1 package Yellow Cake Mix
- 1 cup peanut butter
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
- 2 eggs
- FILLING
- 2 cups (12-oz. pkg.) semi-sweet chocolate pieces
- 1 1/3 cups (15-oz. can) sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated)
- 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup flaked coconut
- 1 cup chopped nuts
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350°
In large mixing bowl, combine dry cake mix, peanut butter, butter and eggs; stir until dough holds together. Press 2/3 of dough into bottom of ungreased 15x10x1-inch jelly roll pan or 13x9-inch baking pan. Reserve remaining dough for topping. Prepare Filling. Spread Filling over dough in pan. Crumble reserved dough over Filling; press lightly into Filling. Bake at 350° for 20 to 25 minutes until light golden brown. Cool; cut into bars. 3Filling: In heavy saucepan, combine chocolate pieces, sweetened condensed milk, butter and salt. Melt over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth. Remove from heat. Stir in coconut, nuts and vanilla.
