Squamish Bars

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c brown sugar
  • 1/2 c corn syrup
  • 1 c peanut butter
  • 1 c Rice Krispies
  • 1 c Corn Flakes
  • 2 c icing sugar
  • 3 Tbsp vanilla pudding powder,or custard powder
  • 2 Tbsp heavy cream
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • TOPPING
  • 3 oz bittersweet or semisweet chocolate
  • 1 Tbsp butter

Preparation

Step 1

In a saucepan over low heat,heat corn syrup,peanut butter and brown sugar until blended
Remove from heat and blend in Corn Flakes and Rice Krispies
Press cereal mixture into a lightly greased 9" square pan and let cool
Combine icing sugar and vanilla pudding powder
Cream 1/4 c butter
Gradually beat in icing sugar mixture and milk
Spread over cereal base
Chill
Melt chocolate and 2 Tbsp butter over hot water
Spread over top of vanilla layer
Chill and cut into squares before chocolate becomes too hard
Store in the refrigerator
