Rum Sauce

  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 lemon wedge
  • 1 orange wedge
  • ¼ cup dark rum

Preparation

Step 1

Combine sugars with 1 cup water. Cook over medium heat, stirring until dissolved. Add wedges and bring to boil. Boil uncovered 20 minutes. Discard fruit. Just before serving, add rum, heat over very low heat, just until vapour rises. Remove from heat. Ignite if desired.
