Sugarplum Ring

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 1/2 c. milk, scalded
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 1/3 c. veg. oil
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3 3/4 - 4 c. flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 c. blanched almonds
  • 1/2 c. whole red cherries
  • 1/3 c. dark corn syrup

Preparation

Step 1

Divide dough into 4 parts. Cut each part into large tablespoon-size pieces, and shape into balls. Dip balls into melted butter, then sugar and cinnamon. Arrange one third of balls into well-greased bundt pan. Pour butter, cinnamon, and corn syrup over top and let rise in warm place till doubled in size (about 1 hr). Bake in 350 degree oven for 35 mins. Cool 5 mins, then turn pan over onto tray and remove ring.
