Ingredients

  • "For bread pudding:"

  • ½

    gallon milk

  • 4

    cups sugar

  • 8

    oz. butter

  • 6

    eggs

  • 4

    Tbsp. vanilla extract

  • 2

    cups raisins

  • 2

    cups pecans, chopped

  • 2

    tsp. cinnamon

  • 1

    tsp. nutmeg

  • 2

    lb. loaf dry white bread

  • "For Whiskey Sauce:"

  • 8

    oz. butter, softened

  • 3

    cups powdered sugar

  • 2

    eggs

  • 1

    cup whiskey

Directions

"For pudding:" 1. Mix all ingredients except for the bread. 2.Tear bread into bite-sized pieces, add to the pudding mixture and allow to soak for 1/2 hour. 3. Place in a 10-inch-by-16-inch loaf pan or casserole dish and bake at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes. 4. Cool, slice and serve with Whiskey Sauce. "For whiskey sauce:" 1. Combine ingredients in a large mixing bowl until butter is well-blended and sugar is dissolved. 2. Serve over Southern Bread Pudding or on the side of slices of pecan pie.
