- 1 (1/4-ounce) envelope active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 cups warm water (100° to 110°)
- 4 cups self-rising flour
- 3/4 cup butter or margarine, melted and cooled
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten

Step 1
1. Preheat oven to 400°.
2. Stir together yeast, a pinch of sugar, and warm water in a big bowl; let stand 5 minutes.
3. Add remaining sugar, flour, butter, and egg to yeast mixture. Stir with a wooden spoon until blended. Spoon batter into greased muffin pans, filling two-thirds full.
4. Bake at 400° for 20 minutes or until rolls are golden. Remove muffin pans from the oven using oven mitts. Invert rolls onto a wire rack. Serve warm.
