Christmas Pinwheel Cookies
Ingredients
- 4 cup flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 1/3 cup butter
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 2/3 cup white sugar
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 drop red food coloring
- 1 drop green food coloring

Step 1
Sift the flour, soda, & salt together in a bowl, resift again in another bowl.
Beat the butter w/brown & white sugars in mixing bowl until light & fluffy. Beat in eggs & vanilla until smooth. Gradually stir in flour mix until evenly blended.
Gather dough into a ball, divide into two(2) equal parts and place in separate bowls.
Add red food coloring to one and green food coloring to the other.
Use a fork or wooden spoon to blend color into dough.
Roll out red dough to 1/4" thickness, roll green dough into the same and place on top of red dough. Beginning on one edge, roll the dough to make a log so the 2 colors spiral inside each other.
Wrap the log in wax paper, then in a towel and refrigarate for at least 8 hours.
Preheat oven to 400. Lightly grease 2 baking sheets. Unrwap dough and place on lightly floured surface. Slice the log 1/8" thick and place on baking sheets.
Bake 5-6 min. Don't brown edges. Remove & cool on wire racks.
