Green Beans with Glazed Onions and Toasted Almonds

  • 1 1/2 1 1/2 lbs. Green Beans
  • 2 tbs 2 tbs + 2 tbs unsalted butter
  • 1 1 onion, sliced thin
  • 1/4 cup 1/4 cup almonds, toasted
  • salt and pepper



Step 1

Toast almonds:
350 degree oven in baking pan (no grease) for about 5 minutes, stir a few times.

Trim the beans and cut into 1 inch pieces or in half.
Blanch in boiling water for about 2 to 3 minutes. Shock the beans in cold water, drain. In a skillet add 2 tbs of the butter and saute the onions until golden brown, season with salt and pepper. Don't burn, keep heat on medium, when cooked removed and set aside.
When ready to serve melt the remaining 2 tbs of butter and saute the green beans and cook until the desired doneness. Season with salt and pepper and just before serving add the toasted almonds to the pan and toss.
