Ingredients
- 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 3/4 cup vegetable shortening
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 3 cups oats, uncooked
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt, optional
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
Preparation
Step 1
Heat oven to 350 F. Grease cookie sheet. Beat together brown sugar, shortening, granulated sugar, egg, water and vanilla until creamy. Add combined remaining ingredients; mix well. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto prepared cookie sheet. Bake 12 to 15 minutes. Cool 1 minute on cookie sheet; remove to wire cooling rack. Store in tightly covered container.
