Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1 cup sugar and another 1/2 cup for rolling cookies in
- 1 1/2 sticks butter
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup molasses
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350°
In medium bowl whisk flour, baking soda, cinnamon and nutmeg.
In a shallow bowl place 1/2 cup sugar; set aside.
With electric mixer, beat butter and sugar until combined. Beat in egg, then molasses until combined. Reduce speed to low; gradually mix in dry ingredients, just until dough forms.
Pinch off and roll dough into balls, each equal to 1 tbsp. Roll balls in reserved 1/2 cup sugar to coat.
Arrange balls on baking sheets, about 3 inches apart.
Bake 1 sheet at a time, until edges are just firm about 10-15 minutes.
Cool 1 minute on baking sheet; transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
Store in air tight container.
