New England Fruit Bread

This recipe was one my grandma made since I was a little kid. It tastes nothing like your ordinary fruit bread that has given fruit bread a bad rap.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup margarine
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs, beaten
  • 6 large ripe bananas
  • 4 cups of flour
  • 2 tsp soda (add to flour)
  • 1 cup nuts (optional)
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup cherries, chopped (candied or maraschino)

Preparation

Step 1

Cream margarine and sugar until fluffy. Add remaining ingredients, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Grease and flour 3 loaf pans. Bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees.
