Sugarless Apple Pie

Ingredients

  • 1 (12 oz) can frozen unsweetened apple juice (thawed)
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 3 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 5 cups sliced Golden Delicious apples
  • 2 ready to fill deep dish pie crusts.

Preparation

Step 1

Mix cornstarch with about 1/4 cup apple juice to dissolve. Over low heat, mix remaining juice , cornstarch mixture and spices together and cook until thick; remove from heat. Add apples to mixture and mix well. Pour into pie shell and top with second pie crust. Prick holes in the top of shell and brush with butter on top. Please put something under the pie to catch any boil over. Bake at 400 degrees until golden brown, about 45 minutes.

You may put a metal pie ring around the edge of the crust to keep from getting too brown about 2/3 the way through the baking.
