Apple Slaw

This is recipe that I found on-line and I adjusted the ingredients to trim off some of the "heat". I served it with pork ribs and it was a hit at the family reunion.

Ingredients

  • 16 oz. package Dole's Shredded Cabbage & Carrots Mix
  • 1 oz. packet McCormick's Ranch Dip Seasoning
  • 0.6 oz. packet Good Seasons Zesty Italian Salad Dressing Mix
  • 16 oz. carton sour cream
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 6 Tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 6 green apples, cored, peeled, and diced
  • 5 green onions, chopped
  • 4 celery stalks, chopped
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Preparation

Step 1

In a large bowl, whisk together the sugar, sour cream, apple cider vinegar, ranch dip seasoning, and Zesty Italian seasoning. Add the apples, green onions, celery, and cabbage to the sour cream mixture; Toss to coat the mixture thoroughly. Season the slaw with salt and pepper to taste. Cover the bowl tightly and chill for 20 minutes or up to 4 hours in the refrigerator. Serve cold with pork or chicken.
