Ingredients
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 can (1 2/3 cups) chicken broth
- 1 cup water
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1 cup quick grits
- 2 oz cream cheese
- 4 oz cheddar cheese
- 1 1/2 lb Shrimp
- bacon slices

Step 1
Bring heavy cream, chicken broth, and water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Add butter, salt, and pepper. Slowly whisk in grits and reduce heat. Cook 15 to 20 minutes over low heat, stirring frequently. When almost ready, add both cream cheese and cheddar cheese. Serve in place of rice with shrimp, pork tenderloin medallions, lamb chops, or other meat or poultry.
Pat shrimp dry. Put in shallow bowl, season with salt an dpepper an d toss with flour to coast evenly. In fry pan over medium-high heat, warms 2 tbsp bacon fat. Working in batches, brown shrimp until almost cooked through about 2 minutes. Transfer to plate.
