Steamed Asparagus with Cheese Sauce

  • asparagus spears 1 pound fresh
  • yogurt 1 cup plain
  • cheddar cheese 4 ounces shredded
  • cream cheese 4 ounces softened
  • lemon juice 1 tablespoon
  • butter 1 tablespoon
  • salt 1/2 tablespoon
  • pepper 1/2 teaspoon
  • hot sauce 2 drops
  • water



Step 1

Remove asparagus spears bottoms
Arrange asparagus in a large deep skillet
Add about 1/2 cup water, cover and bring to a simmer over medium-high heat
Steam asparagus for about 5 minutes, or until just tender
While the asparagus cooks make the sauce

Combine all the ingredients in a microwave safe dish
Microwave on high for 1 1/2 minutes
Let stand 2 minutes, whisk and microwave again on high for 1 1/2 minutes
Let stand for 2 minutes, then whisk until smooth
If necessary, microwave for an additional minute
