Beverage: The Very Best Eggnog

Ingredients

  • 1 Dozen large eggs, separated
  • 2 cups sugar, divided
  • 2 cups bourbon (or to taste)
  • 2 quarts heavy whipping cream
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg

Preparation

Step 1

In mixing bowl, beat egg yolks with 1 1/2 cups sugar until mixture is lemon colored. Slowly add bourbon,
beating constantly.

In second mixing bowl, beat egg whites and remaining
sugar until mixture is almost stiff. Gently stir bourbon
mixture into egg whites.

In large mixing bowl, whip cream, and gradually add
to egg mixture. Grate fresh nutmeg over top.
