Ingredients

  • 7 oz uncooked elbow noodles (2 cups uncooked)
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup sliced celery
  • 1 - 28oz can diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 - 8 oz can tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp majoram leaves
  • 1/4 tsp thyme leaves
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1 cup shredded American cheese

Preparation

Step 1

Prepare noodles to pkg directions, drain.
In a medium skillet, combine ground beef, onion and celery. Cook until beef is browned and celery is tender; drain, as needed. Stir in the next 6 ingredients. Add macaroni and mix well.
Pour into 2-qt casserole. Top with cheese. Bake at 350F until hot, approximately 35-40 minutes.
Refrigerate or freeze leftovers.

Stove-top variation: If desired, after adding macaroni to meat mixture in skillet, simmer for 10 minutes. Omit baking.
