Ingredients

  • italian bread 1 loaf (1 pound)
  • olive oil 1/3 cup
  • balsamic vinegar 3 tablespoons
  • basil 1 tablespoon minced fresh or 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • garlic 1 clove minced
  • salt 1/2 teaspoon
  • red pepper flake 1/4 teaspoon crushed
  • deli turkey 3/4 pound sliced
  • provolone cheese 6 ounces thinly sliced
  • roasted red peppers 1 (7-ounce) jar drained, and sliced
  • green olives 1/2 cup sliced
  • tomato 1 large sliced
  • Romano cheese 3 tablespoons SHREDDED
  • oregano 1 tablespoon minced fresh or 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • pepper 1/4 tablespoon

Preparation

Step 1

Cut bread in half lengthwise carefully hollow out top and bottom, leaving a 1-in. shell (discard removed bread or save for another use).
In a small bowl, combine the oil, vinegar, basil, garlic, salt and pepper flakes brush over cut sides of bread.
In the bottom bread shell, layer the turkey, provolone cheese, red peppers, olives and tomato.
Sprinkle with Romano cheese, oregano and pepper.
Replace bread top.
Wrap in plastic wrap refrigerate for 30 minutes, (very important to refrigerate)
Cut into slices.
