Paula Deen’s Peach Cobbler

Ingredients

  • 4 cups fresh peeled
  • 2 cups sugar divided use
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 stick unsalted butter 1/2 cup
  • 1 1/2 cups UNBLEACHED all-purpose flour bleached flour toughens baked goods
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • cinnamon as desired

Preparation

Step 1

Peel and slice peaches.

Combine peaches with one cup sugar and the water and bring to a boil.

Lower heat and simmer for 10 minutes.

Set aside.

Melt butter in a 9x13” glass baking dish.

In a mixing bowl, stir to combine flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder and remaining 1 cup sugar.

Add milk very slowly so lumps don’t form.

Continue to stir in milk a few tablespoons at a time until thoroughly combined and mixed.

Evenly pour batter over melted butter in baking dish.

Do not stir.

Evenly spoon peaches and syrup over top of the batter in the dish.

Do not stir.

Sprinkle with cinnamon, as desired.

Bake at 350° for 35-45 minutes or until set.
