  • 6 ounces milk chocolate, chopped
  • 3/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 teaspoon vanilla

Step 1

1. In a small saucepan cook and stir chocolate over low heat until melted. Set aside.

2. Stir together flour, baking powder, and salt; set aside. In a mixing bowl beat butter with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds. Beat in sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg, vanilla, and melted chocolate until combined. Beat in flour mixture until combined.

3. Divide dough into four portions. Wrap each portion in plastic wrap. Freeze for 20 to 30 minutes or chill about 1 hour or until dough is firm enough to handle.

4. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Removing one portion of dough from freezer at a time, shape each portion into an 10-inch roll. Cut each roll into 1/4-inch slices. Place 1 inch apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 9 to 10 minutes or until edges are set. Cool on cookies sheet for 2 minutes. Carefully transfer to a wire rack; cool completely.

5. Spread Milk Chocolate-Sour Cream Frosting on bottoms of half of the cookies. Top with remaining cookies, bottom sides down. Serve filled cookies the same day.

Milk Chocolate-Sour Cream Frosting

In a saucepan cook and stir 3 ounces chopped milk chocolate and 2 tablespoons butter over low heat until melted. Remove from heat; cool 5 minutes. Stir in 1/4 cup sour cream. Gradually stir in 1 to 1-1/4 cups powdered sugar to reach spreading consistency.
